Anthroponotic Enteric Parasites in Monkeys in Public Park, China
نویسندگان
چکیده
Cryptosporidium spp., Giardia duodenalis, and Enterocytozoon bieneusi were detected in 45, 35, and 116 of 411 free-range rhesus monkeys, respectively, in a popular public park in the People's Republic of China. Most genotypes and subtypes detected were anthroponotic, indicating these animals might be reservoirs for human cryptosporidiosis, giardiasis, and microsporidiosis.

Alimentary tract parasites of vervet monkeys (Cercopithecus aethiops): A potential reservoir for human transmission
Monkeys are important experimental models for investigating human diseases. The aim of this study was to survey the alimentary tract parasites among imported vervet monkeys (Cercopithecus aethiops) to Iran. Fecal samples were collected from 40 vervets imported from Tanzania to Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute of Iran. Fecal samples were assessed by direct smear and Telman sedimentation...
متن کاملThe Expression implication of GDNF in ventral horn and associated remote cortex in rhesus monkeys with hemisected spinal cord injury
Objective(s): Glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) can effectively promote axonal regeneration, limit axonal retraction, and produce a statistically significant improvement in motor recovery after spinal cord injury (SCI). However, the role in primate animals with SCI is not fully cognized. Materials and Methods:18 healthy juvenile rhesuses were divided randomly into six groups, obs...

متن کاملHigh prevalence of Enterocytozoon bieneusi zoonotic genotype D in captive golden snub-nosed monkey (Rhinopithecus roxellanae) in zoos in China
BACKGROUND Enterocytozoon bieneusi is the dominant specie of microsporidia which can infect both anthroponotic and zoonotic species. The golden snub-nosed monkey is an endangered primate which can also infect by E. bieneusi. To date, few genetic data on E. bieneusi from golden snub-nosed monkeys has been published. Therefore, to clarify the prevalence and genotypes of E. bieneusi in captive gol...
متن کاملThe Historical Ecology of Human and Wild Primate Malarias in the New World
The origin and subsequent proliferation of malarias capable of infecting humans in South America remain unclear, particularly with respect to the role of Neotropical monkeys in the infectious chain. The evidence to date will be reviewed for Pre-Columbian human malaria, introduction with colonization, zoonotic transfer from cebid monkeys, and anthroponotic transfer to monkeys. Cultural behaviors...
